UPDATE: Attention Exeter employees who are also staff members:

ParentSquare recently unmerged combined staff and parent accounts to help you better distinguish your experience navigating the app/platform as either a staff member or as a parent. Since this update rolled out earlier this summer, ParentSquare has improved the experience so that you can “remerge” the accounts so that you don’t need to log in and log out to see parent and staff information. Instead, you can log into your staff account, and then click “Add your Parent Account.” Then, please add your home email address, verify the account (if prompted), and then click on your name to select which way you’d like to navigate the platform (it will clearly be marked with your name and your role).

This action was taken by ParentSquare to provide:

Better Privacy and Data Security

• Merged accounts only allowed login via staff email to protect sensitive info. But some staff shared their login with a spouse (since the parent login was disabled), which led to privacy risks. With separate accounts, each role now has its own secure login — no shared access, no exposure.

Clearer Communication Context

• With a merged account, it was often unclear whether a message, RSVP, or post came from someone acting as a parent or a staff member. Now, each action can be correctly attributed, improving clarity for schools, parents, and staff alike. This means we can tell you the title or the kids of the person who is DMing you.

Better Work-Life Balance

• Staff reported receiving late-night notifications on their personal phones due to merged accounts. With separate roles:
  • You can log into the mobile app as a parent only.
  • You can set separate notification preferences (instant vs digest) for staff and parent accounts.
  • You can set office hours to silence work messages outside work hours.

Seamless Role Switching

• You don’t have to log out and log back in anymore. Once you login to both accounts, you can switch between staff and parent accounts with one tap.
